Stratford Quarterback Jacob Park was named the winner of the 2013 South Carolina Mr. Football award on Saturday during halftime of the North-South game in Myrtle Beach.
Park helped lead the Knights to the AAAA Division 2 state finals last weekend before they were beaten by Northwestern.
Mason Rudolph of Northwestern was one of the 4 players Park beat out. Spring Valley's Christian Miller, Latta's Donell Stanley and Jae'lon Oglesby of Daniel were the others.
The Stratford senior put up huge numbers for the Knights this season throwing for over 3500 yards and 32 touchdowns helping the team to a 12-3 record.
With the win, Park becomes the 2nd straight player from the Lowcountry to win the award after the area had gone more than a decade without the honor. Park follows up Goose Creek's Tramel Terry who got the award in 2012.
He'll also join Terry in becoming the 2nd straight player to win Mr. Football and head to Georgia where he's been verbally committed since the Summer.
The only other player from the Lowcountry to win Mr. Football was another former Stratford star, Moe Thompson back in 2001.
