Lowcountry natives Tresvon Coakley and Jordan Barnes each scored touchdowns for the South but it wasn't enough as the North scored 3 touchdowns in under 7 minutes to win the 65th annual Touchstone Energy Bowl 38-21 in Myrtle Beach on Saturday.
The North built up a 17-0 lead at the half thanks to scores from Ryan Moore and Dre Massey.
But the South team would come up firing in the 2nd half. Coakley started things off as the St. John's RB rushed in from 12 yards out to put them on the board.
After that it was Goose Creek's Barnes catching a 14 yard score to get the South to within 17-14. They would take the lead after Ronheen Bingham would recover a blocked punt for a score making in 21-17 in the 4th.
That's when the North would start to turn things up. Another score from Moore would put them on top for good before they'd add 2 more touchdowns including a 74 yard pass from Massey to cap the scoring.
Barnes was named the offensive MVP for the South with 5 catches for 55 yards and his touchdown.
