NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Boeing announced on Tuesday it is one step closer to choosing a site to assemble its 777X planes.
Many workers in Washington are worried Boeing will send the work, and likely thousands of jobs, to another state.
South Carolina is among 22 states which have sent in proposals for the facility.
The Machinist union in Washington rejected Boeing's latest offer. Leaders argued a vote was pointless because it was too similar to the previous contract.
But some union members are rallying for a vote.
Boeing says the offer was rejected by union leaders, but was not withdrawn from the table. With no contract, there's a chance Boeing could look at South Carolina.
Some employees in Washington state say they're planning a rally for Wednesday.
