NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A large outdoor recreation retailer has announced plans to build a store in North Charleston.
Bass Pro Shops is set to build a 130,000 to 150,000-square-foot store at the Ingleside Plantation North development located at the intersection of I-26 and Northside Drive, according to a release.
Officials say construction for the new store will begin in 2014, with opening expected to occur in 2015.
Bass Prop Shops specializes in hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor-related gear. In addition to retail items, the mega-sized stores also feature educational workshops, showrooms, and exhibits.
The release states Bass Pro Shops will be the anchor for Ingleside Plantation's 2-million-square-foot, mixed-use development.
"By adding a Bass Pro Shops to this premier development in North Charleston, we hope to enhance this area's rich tradition and long history of being a highly sought-after outdoor and tourist destination," said Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops.
The new Bass Pro Shops will feature an Uncle Buck's Fishbowl and Grill, which will offer twelve bowling lanes and a dining area.
This will be the second Bass Pro Shops location in South Carolina, with one already located in Myrtle Beach.
