COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Emergency officials say a high speed head-on collision killed one man and injured two people in a weekend accident in Colleton County.

Authorities with the Colleton County Fire and Rescue Department say the accident happened at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday in front of 13792 Sniders Highway when a Chevrolet Impala crossed the center line and struck a Nissan X-Terra head on.

According to emergency crews, the driver of the Impala was found unconscious and in critical condition. Authorities report that it is suspected that he suffered a medical emergency before the crash.

Emergency officials say the driver of the Impala passed away as he was arriving at the Medical University of South Carolina.

The driver and passenger of the X-Terra were also transported to the hospital for injuries.
