First Alert Weather: after a dry Christmas, rain chances return for the extended forecast

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A weak low pressure system will skirt the area with a rain chance on Thursday. A stronger system will likely traverse the area late in the weekend.

THURSDAY: Expect many clouds. Scattered light to moderate showers are possible too. Chilly northeast breezes between 5 to 10mph will hold daytime temperatures mainly in the 40s. 

THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY: Rain chances will likely be back to near 0% in this period. Also expect mostly clear skies, nighttime lows in the 30s, and Friday highs mainly in the low 50s.

WEEKEND: Rain chances will grow from near 0% early Saturday to near 50% for Saturday night and Sunday. Daily highs: 50s for Saturday, lower 60s possible for Sunday.

A PEEK INTO NEXT WEEK: Expect chillier temperatures to return with daily highs likely in the 40s for New Years Eve (Tue) and New Years Day (Wed)!
