Four gun-related incidents under investigation in Charleston County

Posted: Updated:

Charleston County dispatchers confirm that law enforcement agencies are investigating four separate gun incidents overnight Tuesday within the county.

The first incident happened around 10:15 p.m. Monday at Northwoods Mall. North Charleston Police were called to the area for reports of gun shots. A Live 5 News photojournalist on the scene said officers were outside the food court near Sears. Several shell casings were seen on the roadway. Dispatchers say no one was injured.

Charleston County dispatchers also confirm a shooting at the Ashley Shores Apartments off Azalea Drive. That shooting happened just before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, in the Dame Court area. North Charleston Police say officers responded to the gunfire.

According to police, a short time later a victim showed up at the police department's South Precinct. The victim alleges he was shot at while leaving the Ashley Shores neighborhood.  Police say the victim was not hit by any bullets, and the victim does not know who fired the gun. Dispatchers say shots were fired at a vehicle, but no one was injured.

Authorities are also investigating a third shooting, which happened on Hackemann Avenue, also in North Charleston. Hackemann Avenue is located just off Meeting Street near the King Street extension.

Investigators say shortly after 2 a.m. officers responded to the area for two males who were allegedly shooting at each other. Police say the victims appeared to have wounds that were non-life threatening and said they had just come back from Charlie O's Night Club in Charleston County.

A police report states that when the victims exited the car, someone fired several rounds at them, but they could not see who it was. Police say both victims were uncooperative and transported to the hospital.

The fourth gun-related incident that dispatch confirms was an armed robbery. It happened at the Circle K convenience store on the corner of West Montague Avenue and Dorchester Road. North Charleston Police say they are searching for the suspect who stole cash, cigarettes, and beer.  Police say the suspect was last seen running toward Interstate 526.  No one was hurt.
