Shop owners take to social media to nab burglar

(WMC-TV) - Collierville shop owners are turning to social media in an effort nab a Christmas "Grinch." They posted video of a crook breaking into their store all over the Internet, hoping the public can help identify the suspect.

The break-in happened early Sunday morning at Bella Vita. The burglar made sure not to leave a penny behind, even after apparently dropping some on the floor. He was out the door in a matter of seconds.

"Fortunately, we got his face going out the door as well," said shop owner Brent Singley. "I think our chances are pretty good."

Sunday's burglary is the second at the same store in five years.

"As long as it's not an ongoing trend, I think we're in good shape," said Singley, who posted the surveillance video on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. "People are sharing it and passing it around and we've gotten a few calls."

The window on the main door was replaced the day after the suspect shattered it.

"We spend money on our back door, we spend money on our camera system and our alarm system and he just comes through the front door," added the store owner.

Singley believes sharing the surveillance video can only help Collierville Police Department with its investigation.

There have been two recent burglary attempts at a nearby jewelry store as well.

If you know anything about the crimes or the man in the video, contact Collierville police.
