COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Chris Turner faces multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle, following a deadly car accident on Buena Vista Rd. that claimed a woman's life on Dec. 28.

Turner admits that he drank brandy the morning that he was driving to a local Burger King and collided into the right rear passenger side of a Kia Optima that contained three passengers. One of those passengers was Shavonna Johnson, 26, who was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead later while in surgery at Midtown Medical Center. Her cause of death is blunt force trauma.

At the scene, Turner said his name was "Trey", though he was later correctly identified. Turner had a blood alcohol content of .105. Neither he nor Johnson were wearing seat belts.

In court, Turner pled not guilty to all charges. He told police that the accident was the other driver's fault for turning out in front of him.

He says he was driving no more than 60 miles per hour, though police estimate he was speeding almost 100 miles per hour.

Police claim that Turner acted disorderly and pushed an officer after being detained. Midtown Medical Center refused to treat Turner after he acted unruly toward staff.

His other charges include disorderly conduct, driving under the influence, driving while license suspended or revoked, false information to officer, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, and driving without a seat belt.
