CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities have released dash camera video of a deputy cruiser's wreck in Ravenel.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says the deputy who was hospitalized after the accident was released from the hospital Thursday night.

The deputy suffered injuries Wednesday night after his cruiser was involved in an accident while responding to an armed robbery call. A second accident involving a deputy supervisor happened shortly after. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating both accidents.

Authorities say the first accident happened Wednesday night on Highway 165 in Ravenel at 9:41 p.m. According to the sheriff's office, the deputy was responding to an armed robbery call at a Johns Island Burger King when the accident happened.

The deputy's vehicle flipped several times during the accident, leaving the male deputy trapped inside. Authorities say the deputy was removed from the car with help from emergency rescue teams.

According to the sheriff's office, the deputy was treated for "moderate to severe injuries" at MUSC.

Major Eric Watson said the deputy suffered serious head injuries but was conscious and alert. He also said the deputy is "lucky to be alive" following the accident.

In the second accident, a deputy sheriff supervisor was responding to this first accident when he lost control of his car. That accident happened on Savannah Highway near Sam Rittenberg Boulevard.

The sheriff's office says the supervisor lost control of his car and hit a utility pole. He was not injured.

The armed robbery call to which the first deputy was responding came from the Savannah Highway Burger King on Johns Island.
