SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WYFF) - An Upstate woman is accused of beating a man with a frying pan following a domestic dispute.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to an apartment at Lee's Crossing on Wednesday by a man who said he was being hit with a frying pan by the woman with whom he has a child.

A deputy said when he arrived, he saw Kendaice McAbee about to pull out of the parking lot.

McAbee told the deputy that she and the victim, the father of her newborn baby, were fighting because he would not help take the one-month-old downstairs to the car.  McAbee said she hit the victim as he was coming came towards her.  She said the victim then pushed her in the doorway, and knocked her colored contact out of her eye.

Another deputy questioned the victim who said McAbee had become "obnoxious and belligerent and started to hit and push him," so he attempted to leave the apartment.  He said McAbee told him he wasn't going anywhere, and when he tried to leave, she started hitting him with the frying pan.

The victim said McAbee continued to hit him with the frying pan while he was on the phone with 911 dispatchers.  The deputy said the victim had visible injuries from being hit.

McAbee was charged for criminal domestic violence. She was being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
