COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The final suspect in the 2011 brutal beating of a Columbia man two years ago in Five Points has been sentenced to 10 years in prison with time served.

Yahquann Gant pleaded guilty Thursday to charges including second degree assault and battery by a mob.

Prosecutors say Gant, who was 16 at the time, was one of four teens who violently assaulted the then 18-year-old Carter Strange while he was jogging through a parking lot near the intersection of Blossom Street and Saluda Avenue just after midnight on June 23, 2011.

Strange was so badly beaten he had to have brain and reconstructive surgeries.

The incident left the Strange family with over $80,000 in medical expenses.
