COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The FBI says a Gaston man they arrested cooked crack cocaine and distributed it to lower level dealers inside a mobile home on Pine Bluff Road.

The bureau arrested 35-year-old Corey Jay Haygood and charged him with possession with intent to distribute, distribution of five kilograms or more of cocaine and 280 grams or more of crack cocaine, and use of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Investigators arrested Haygood on Jan. 9 after executing a search warrant at a mobile home located at 142 B Pine Bluff Road.

A news release says field agents found Haygood inside the home along with cocaine, crack cocaine, drug scales, and a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol on a nearby kitchen counter.

As agents continued to comb the home, they also located $10,000 in cash, more drugs inside a secret compartment in a bedroom closet, and a loaded AK-47 assault rifle in the kitchen hidden behind an appliance.

In all, investigators say the drugs seized from the Bluff Road home are worth about $17,000.

The release says Haygood was arrested in connection with a much larger drug investigation targeting "violent street gangs and drug suppliers throughout the Midlands."
