NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston Police Chief Eddie Driggers held a press conference Friday afternoon regarding recent shootings this year.
According to Driggers, there have been eight shootings in his jurisdiction so far for 2014.
"We are taking a stand in these areas where the shootings happened," said Driggers who also stated that he has special teams of police working the areas where the incidents have happened. "We are in those areas to stay."
Driggers also emphasized that his department also had the support of the community, calling it a partnership.
"Shootings are not a concern trend, they are a concern," Driggers said.
Driggers also said investigators believe three separate shootings on New Year's Day, which killed two mothers and injured another women, are related, but are not gang related. According to Driggers, investigators have an idea of the suspects involved.
During the press conference, Driggers assured family members of murdered victims that they will get justice.
