CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says an inmate who was mistakenly released from the Al Cannon Detention Center turned himself in Friday night.

Deputies say around 9:30 p.m., George Henry Knight was lodged back into the Detention Center without incident.

Authorities say George Henry Knight was mistakenly released from the Sheriff Cannon Detention Center due to an error with his bond documentation.

Knight was being held on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, distribution of marijuana, and unlawful carrying of a firearm.

According to a release, Knight was issued a personal recognizance bond for his release on January 9. The bond was later changed to a $30,000 surety bond, but the updated paperwork was not forwarded to the proper authorities in a timely manner.
