Guns, coins, and jewelry stolen from Johns Island home

JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston police are investigating after three guns, jewelry, and antique coins were reported stolen Thursday from a Johns Island home.

According to an incident report, a home on Brent Street was broken into Thursday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The victim told police she returned home to find her deadbolt was unlocked, and items inside her home out of place.

The report states the victim said she went in her bedroom and found a cardboard box that was used to hold her antique coin collection sitting on her bed. A gun safe and jewelry box were found open in the victim's closet.

Police say approximately $300 in coins, $2,200 in jewelry, and three handguns were stolen from the home.

Officials say the victim left the home's backdoor unlocked when she left at 7 a.m. because air condition technicians were scheduled to make repairs at the home, but the service call was canceled sometime after she left the house.

Police say there were no signs of forced entry.

The incident is under investigation.
