Everblades Narrowly Escape Stingrays 1-0

The SouthCarolina Stingrays (25-8-1-2) fell to the Florida Everblades (21-11-1-1) 1-0 atGermain Arena Saturday night.

TheEverblades buried the only goal of the contest at 10:54 of the first periodwhen former Stingrays forward Parker Stanfield fired a shot under theblocker of goaltender Jeff Jakaitis (L, 16 saves on 17 shots) from theright-wing circle. Everblades forward Mike Merrifield and formerStingrays forward Trevor Bruess picked up the assists. 

In thesecond period, the Stingrays outshot the Everblades 10-5 and led 19-12 through40 minutes generating numerous scoring chances in front of Everblades netminderTrevor Cann (W, 29 saves on 29 shots), but could not slip an opportunityover the goal line. The Stingrays continued to pressure in the third periodadding 10 more shots on goal, but Cann held on for his first shutout of theseason. Both teams went 0-for-4 on the power play.
