Police search for suspect in James Island Connector drive-by shooting

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - An early morning drive-by shooting on the James Island Connector Monday morning put two people in the hospital.

Charleston Police Department received the call just before 2 a.m. When they arrived on the scene they discovered a black Pontiac with two injured victims inside.

According to police, the Pontiac was headed Eastbound on the James Island Connector, near Harbor View Road.

That's when a Black SUV passed the Pontiac and started to open fire. The suspects continued shooting as they passed.

Officials say the driver of the Pontiac, Jasmin Hudson, 35, received minor injuries from the shattered window glass.

The other victim, Antonio Grant, 32, was shot in the leg and remains in the hospital.

Jasmin Hudson's mom got a call from her son after the shooting. He told her he left a nightclub on James Island just before the shooting.

"I said okay, just be careful. Go home, don't come back out. You made it through this, might not be a next time," said Mary Hudson.

"I just thank God that all of them came out good. God's been with them and whoever the young men are who did this, you know, give yourself up."

The suspect is not in custody and officials are searching for more information in this case.
