Photos released of suspect in Johns Island gas station armed robbery

JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police have released surveillance photos of a man who robbed a Johns Island gas station at gunpoint late Monday night.

Police say the incident took place at the Kangaroo gas station located at 106 Main Road around 10:38 p.m.

A report states a suspect wearing a ski mask entered the store, cocked a handgun he was carrying, and demanded money from the store's safe.

After telling the suspect the safe could not be opened, the victim told police the suspect cocked the pistol again and demanded she open the safe.

The report states the suspect took money from the cash register, along with two packs of Newport cigarettes. He then left the store on foot down Main Road towards Johns Island.

The victim told police she did not hear or see a live round eject from the pistol the second time the suspect cocked it.

Police say the suspect is described as a black male who is approximately 5'5". He was wearing a forest green colored industrial jump suit, a black three-hole ski mask, and black gloves.
