The South Carolina State men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaking, 75-69, defeat to Coppin State Monday at the Coppin Physical Education Complex.
The Bulldogs fall to 5-12 overall 1-2 in the MEAC, while the Eagles improve to 5-11, 2-1 in the league.
Senior forward Matthew Hezekiah led the way with 16 points and six rebounds, while freshman guard Jalen White added 13 points and five assists in the loss. Sophomore forward Daryll Palmer had a team-high seven rebounds, while tossing in eight points.
Coppin was led by guard Micheal Murray with a game-high 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Andre Armstrong scored 22 points in the victory.
SC State returns home for a four-game home stand with Florida A&M on Saturday in a pivotal MEAC doubleheader with the women, beginning at 4 p.m. and the men following afterwards.
