RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A Richmond Police detective pleaded guilty Tuesday to driving under the influence.

Prosecutors chose not to pursue a second charge of refusing to take a breathalyzer against Jack Larry.

A Henrico judge sentenced Larry to 12 months, but suspended the entire term. He was ordered to take alcohol counseling classes, have an Interlock device placed on his car and can only drive to and from work for one year.

Virginia State Police arrested Larry and a lawyer with the Richmond Commonwealth's Attorney's Office in December.

A state trooper pulled over a 2013 Volkswagen vehicle on I-64 at exit 177 for speeding shortly after midnight on December 1 in Henrico.

His passenger, Brooke Pettit, 27, was also arrested and charged with being drunk in public.

Larry was put on administrative leave by the Richmond Police Department following his arrest.
