Cops: Fugitive fires gun inside home after argument with ex's daughter

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) -

A 30-year-old fugitive is behind bars after police say he went to a woman's home in West Ashley and fired gun shots into the ceiling following an argument with the woman's daughter.

The Charleston Police Department has charged Gavin Generus Brown with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature. Investigators say Brown also has an active warrant out of Charleston County.

On Monday at midnight, police responded to an apartment on Ashley River Road for a report of a man who had shot a gun inside an apartment.

The 41-year-old victim said it all started when Brown asked if he could come to her apartment to retrieve some things. The victim said after she and Brown spoke outside, they both went inside the home where an argument between her daughter and Brown began.

The victim said her daughter grabbed a knife, in fear for her safety, and told Brown to leave.

According to the victim, Brown began shouting,"Y'all trying to stab me...I feel threatened! I feel threatened!"

The victim told police that Brown then took out an "old western style gun" and fired two rounds into the ceiling. The victim said Brown then quickly fled the scene.

The victim said two children that she has in common with Brown were sleeping in the bedroom directly behind the living room wall during the incident.
