Cops: Driver charged after injuring woman on scooter in N. Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A 30-year-old man has been arrested after police say he injured a woman after striking a scooter type vehicle with his van in North Charleston.

The North Charleston Police Department charged Juan Villaseca Mateos with driving under suspension, failure to yield the right of way and failure to surrender a suspended tag.

Officers responded to the intersection of Remount Road and Saxon Street in reference to an auto pedestrian accident.

A police report states the pedestrian was operating a scooter type vehicle when she crossed the road and was struck by a van.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
