Charleston Comedy Festival

If you're looking to laugh, the annual Charleston Comedy Festival has shows at a variety of venues through Saturday night. The festival wraps up with a 2-hour show at Theatre 99 on Meeting Street.

The Festival Finale, starting at 10:30 p.m. Saturday will showcase all the performers in town for the festival.

Charleston Marathon

Get out your running shoes this weekend! Whether you want to run a marathon, a 5K or something in between, this is the time.

The Charleston Marathon and Half-Marathon start near Burke Middle High School Saturday morning at 8:00. The Shrimp and Grits 5K also loops through the Park Circle area of North Charleston.

The event supports the Youth Endowment of the Arts, a local non-profit that supports fine arts programming in Charleston County Schools. Walk up registration starts at 6:30 a.m.

A Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute Performance

Monday is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with multiple community events and parades scheduled. But ahead of the holiday, the CSO Gospel Choir and CSO Spiritual Ensemble will present "Wouldn't Take Nothing For My Journey Now: A Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute Performance."

The concert is Saturday night at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at 7:00 p.m. This is a FREE event, but tickets are required. Some tickets may still be available at the door. You can contact Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at 843-797-2648 for more information.
