NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - According to the Lowcountry Animal Rescue Facebook page, Samson has been returned safely and is now in their custody.

The group's Facebook page states, "Simpson is fine, thank God. Details to come on how we got him back. We are still talking with the police. An extremely heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone that, prayed, posted and cross posted."

Officials with the group said one of their pit bulls was stolen Saturday afternoon during an Adopt-a-Thon event in North Charleston.

According to a post on their Facebook page, a pit bull named Samson was stolen from Petco on Rivers Avenue around 3:30 p.m.

Samson, a brown and white colored pit bull, was previously rescued from an Orangeburg dog fighting ring where he was reportedly used as a bait dog.

Lowcountry Animal Rescue officials say Samson is a very sweet, non-confrontational pit bull.
