KIAWAH ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Several celebrities are expected tee it up on Kiawah Island for a new charitable golf event in February.
The event called 'The Draft A Celebrity Golf Tournament,' is set for Feb. 15 at the Ocean Course. Organizers say people can bid to "draft" their favorite celebrity to compete in the event.
Organizers say among the expected celebrities committed to the event are former NFL players Brian Dawkins, George Rogers, Jerome Bettis, Kordell Stewart and Joe Delamielleure, coaches Steve Spurrier, Chad Morris, Fisher DeBerry, Ralph Friedgen and Bobby Cremins, former NBA all-star Eric "Sleepy" Floyd, actress Catherine Bell, actors Bill Murray and Willie Robertson, musician Eric Bass and more.
Proceeds from the event will benefit two Charleston-area charities – The Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Center, a nationally accredited Children's Advocacy Center, and the Lowcountry Food Bank, a member of Feeding America, the nation's official network of food banks.
