MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Mount Pleasant Police Department say they have been receiving reports of phone scams directed at hotel patrons.
According to police, the victims receive calls while in their from someone claiming to be part of management.
Authorities say the scammer tells the victim that they need to confirm personal information such as credit card numbers or a social security number.
Police are asking anyone who has received any phone calls similar to the one described, to call police at (843) 743-7200.

We have reports of phone scams directed at hotel patrons. The victims will receive phone calls while in their room, and the other party will claim to be part of the management and will need to confirm personal information such as credit card number, debit card number, or social security number. Remember to never give out personal information over the phone, and confirm who you are speaking with is actually with the management. Call them back on the main number to the establishment or walk down to the front desk to exchange that information in person.
