CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Officials say the impending extreme winter weather has resulted in the postponement of Tuesday night's Charleston City Council Meeting and State of the City address.
Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. has moved the City Council Meeting and State of the City address to Thursday, January 30. Both events were originally scheduled to take place Tuesday night.
"With the anticipation of the winter weather beginning in the afternoon, road conditions will become unsafe throughout the late afternoon and evening," said the mayor in a statement. "Moving the meetings will be the safest option for everyone."
Officials say city staff from Parks, Public Service, Fire, Police, Traffic and Transportation, and Public Information will be on hand to monitor the status of the storm, as well as provide updates when necessary.
