The SouthCarolina Stingrays (29-10-1-2) erased a two-goal deficit to defeat the OrlandoSolar Bears (22-15-1-2) 4-2 on Ride CARTA Night and Family Four PackFriday at the North Charleston Coliseum Friday evening.
The SolarBears started the scoring 9:30 into the contest when forward Mike Ducobanked in his fourth goal of the season off the right pad of Stingraysgoaltender Jeff Jakaitis (W, 27 saves on 29 shots) from the left-wingcorner. Moments later, forward Jacob Cepis capitalized on the power playto make it 2-0 at 11:18.
TheStingrays started the comeback at 6:41 of the second period as forward PatrickGaul tapped a pass from defenseman Drew Baker past the outstretchedright pad of Solar Bears netminder Cody Reichard (L, 24 saves on 28shots). Less than a minute later, forward Igor Gongalsky struckshorthanded to tie the game with his sixth goal of the season from forward LukeGreiner at 7:24. Forward Peter Boyd put the Stingrays on top at18:44 completing a quick rush with forward Paul Rodrigues and Baker.
Rodriguessealed the victory with his fourth goal of the season at 14:50 of the finalframe stealing the puck away from Solar Bears defenseman Blake Kessel aslipping a shot under the glove of Reichard. The Stingrays finished the game0-for-2 on the power play while the Solar Bears went 1-for-5.
The Stingrays host the Greenville Road Warriorson Friday, February 7 and Saturday, February 8 at 7:05p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum.
