CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Officials at MUSC Children's Hospital are working on a new eating disorders program to help kids who have been diagnosed with anorexia or bulimia.
The new pediatric outpatient eating disorders program will compliment the hospital's inpatient treatment program. MUSC Children's Hospital and Department of Pediatrics are developing the program.
The outpatient program will provide South Carolina children and young adults an in-state place to receive treatment.
MUSC Department of Pediatrics chair Rita Ryan M.D. says a "particularly generous donor" and several others helped provide the startup funds to get things moving.
According to a release, MUSC is seeking an adolescent physician, a psychiatrist to a psychologist to direct the new program.
