NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - New information about how a North Charleston hotel fell victim to a peculiar theft. Now, we're getting our first look at the man suspected of posing as a customer, walking into a hotel room and making off with a flat screen TV.
According to a North Charleston Police report, a man showed up at the Quality Inn Suites on N. Arco Ln. on Jan. 21.
Hotel staff say the man claimed to be from out of town was interested in renting a room for one month.
They say the man wanted to look at it before he made his final decision, so they gave him a key to a room and told him to check it out.
The man never returned. A housekeeper discovered that the sheets of the bed had been removed and the flat screen TV was missing.
From surveillance video, it appears the suspect arrived and fled from the scene in under ten minutes. The car in the video appears to be a green or blue, four-door sedan.
Live 5 spoke with the hotel manager and tells me she feels violated and disappointed after the incident. She says she misjudged his character and she's worried other will as well. So much so, that she's made fliers that she has personally distributed to nearby hotels.
She claims another nearby hotel, who did not want to comment, has reported a similar incident.
According to North Charleston Police, this is still an active investigation and no arrests have been made in the case.
