BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has received the honor of being named a nationally accredited law enforcement agency.
An official presentation to commemorate the achievement will be made at the Berkeley County Council Meeting on February 10 at 6:30 p.m. The honor comes from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.
Berkeley County Sheriff Wayne DeWitt says the accreditation award shows that his office is "attentive to the issues that promote professional service" and that they are focused on proper activities that "strengthen the Office's overall performance."
"Now that we have reached this high standard, we must continue to strive for even higher goals of professionalism to service the citizens of Berkeley County," said Sheriff DeWitt.
According to a release, only 32 other law enforcement agencies in South Carolina and 626 nationally have earned this award.
