Authorities investigating Georgetown paper company blaze

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Georgetown County emergency officials are investigating after a fire broke out a Georgetown paper company late Friday night.

Georgetown County dispatch confirms crews responded to a blaze at the International Paper Company plant just before midnight.

According to the Georgetown County Assistant Fire Chief Tony Hucks, a conveyor belt at the paper mill stopped causing friction which resulted in a spark to ignite.

No one was injured in the blaze.
