GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - Berkeley County School District officials say schools in the Goose Creek area were temporarily on lockdown Monday afternoon due to police activity in the area.
A statement by the district states that the lockdown was a precautionary measure following advisement from local law enforcement.
According to school officials, Howe Hall AIMS, Goose Creek Primary, Sedgefield Intermediate, Sedgefield Middle, and Goose Creek High went into a temporary administrative lockdown mode Monday afternoon as police investigated an incident in a nearby community.
Officials with BCSD say under advisement of authorities, the lockdown at the campuses were lifted, and each school is notifying parents using the district's parent notification system.
Officials with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office say deputies responded to the area of Liberty Hall Road in reference to shots fired in the area.
BCSO investigators say nothing was found in the area, and schools were placed on lockdown as a safety precaution.
