Jury indicts Berkeley Co. School District communications director on ethics charge

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The South Carolina Attorney General's Office announced on Tuesday that Amy Kovach, the Berkeley County School District communications director, has been indicted on an ethics charge.

According to the attorney general's office, an indictment was returned by the Berkeley County Grand Jury on Tuesday for Kovach on one count of Violation of Ethics Act, the use of public funds to influence the outcome of an election.

The offense is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 or one year in prison.

The investigation is ongoing.
