A west side story, 14 years after the murder

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Police say it's been nearly 14 years since Anthony Seth Burroughs shot and killed a man at house party on the city's west side.

Burroughs was quickly identified as the person responsible.

But nearly a decade and a half later, there's still no arrest in the case.

This is the reason why: The murder suspect will do just about anything and go just about anywhere to avoid being caught.

Over the last 14 years, Anthony Seth Burroughs reportedly fled to Mexico, returned to Tucson, drove to Los Angeles, where he boarded a plane to the Philippines, but then eventually returned to the United States.

Right now it's unclear where Burroughs is.

We're told he still has family in Tucson, and because of that there's a chance he's back in our community today.

"This is somebody we do not want in our community a person nobody wants in their community," says Deputy U.S. Marshal Daniel Leyva.

That's after what happened along South Camino Santiago back on April 30, 2000: a house party just across the street from Cholla High School that suddenly turned deadly.

Police said Burroughs got into an argument with a man in the street.

Within seconds, that argument escalated into gunfire.

Burroughs was shot in the foot.

The man he was arguing with was shot dead.

Fast forward 14 years and there's still no arrest in the case.

Somehow, some way, Anthony Burroughs been able to elude law enforcement in at least three countries, across two different continents.

That's why federal authorities are asking for your help today.

"Burroughs is wanted for first degree murder in Pima County," Leyva said. "His bond is set at $1 million and it's very important that we apprehend this person."

At the time of the crime, Burroughs was 5' 7" and weighed about 200 pounds.

Today, he's 34 years old and might be using a fake name.

The one thing that's likely remained constant are the suspect's tattoos.

The words "Hate" and "Love" on his left and right arms; his last name "Burroughs" on his back; and his daughter's name "Adriana" across his chest.

If you have any information about this man or this murder, call 911 or 88-CRIME.

A reward up to $1,000 will go to the person whose tip leads to an arrest in this unsolved homicide.
