CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office will hold a press conference Thursday afternoon to discuss the findings of their investigation into the alleged self defense shooting of a man in Ladson.
Sheriff Al Cannon, Jr. and Ninth Circuit Solicitor Scarlett Wilson will discuss the fatal shooting of Robert Deziel, Jr. during a 3 p.m. press conference at the sheriff's office.
According to a report, deputies were called to a home on Dunmeyer Hill Road in Ladson on Sunday just after 6 a.m. for a report of an attempted armed robbery and shooting.
Deputies say the homeowner told authorities he was walking to his car when he was approached by Deziel, who attempted to stun him with some type of stun gun.
After a struggle between him and Deziel, the homeowner said he pulled out a handgun that he was carrying and shot Deziel multiple times. Deziel was pronounced dead at the scene.
The homeowner was transported to Trident Medical Hospital to be treated for injuries he sustained during the incident.
Officials say their investigation into the shooting is complete, and the findings will be released at the press conference.
