JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Five members of the Kuwaiti Air Force are visiting Joint Base Charleston in South Carolina on their way to delivering their nation's first C-17 transport plane.
Staff Sgt. A. J. Hyatt says Friday's visit marks the end of the Kuwaiti crew's monthlong U.S. training in operating and maintaining the aircraft.
The plane is being purchased by Kuwait from Boeing as part of a foreign military sales agreement.
The C-17 Globemaster is a long-range transport capable of delivering troops and cargo as well as supporting medical evacuation and airdrop support missions.
The plane is being flown from Long Beach, Calif., by a U.S. Air Force crew to South Carolina. The Kuwaiti crew takes over Saturday when they depart for Kuwait.
