Top 5 lessons learned during Winter Storm 2014

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The winter storm has moved out of South Carolina, but the effects are still being felt by thousands who were left without power or with damage to their home.

Live 5's Raphael James took to Facebook to ask folks what could have been differently, and what lessons did we learn.

Here are the top 5 responses:

#5 - Joyel Crawford says, "Buy food before the storm watch that you can cook without power."

#4 - LD Hamby says, "Put food from the freezer in a cooler outside, as long as temperatures remain around freezing."

#3 - Elaine Proctor kept it short and sweet. "Stay home!!"

#2 - Lesson No. 2 comes from Penni Hayward. "If you buy a generator test it before you need it to ensure that it  works properly." Hayward says she hadn't checked the generator since she bought it 8 years ago.

#1 - The top spot goes to Lisa Fickle, who says, "Keep smart phones charges to watch Raphael on Live 5!"
