DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Dorchester County Emergency Management Department is continuing clean up efforts following this week's ice storm.

A release states County Public Works crews are removing debris from roadways, and working with town and SCDOT officials to organize a plan for curbside debris removal. County officials say crews will start curbside yard debris removal next Monday and Tuesday.

Dorchester County residents can dispose of yard debris Friday and Saturday at the County site located at 130 Suburban Lane in Summerville, and at the County site located at 374 Sandy Pines Road.

Officials say at least three traffic lights in the Summerville area are with out power: Carolina Avenue and South Main Street, Laurel Street and Central Avenue, and Bacon's Bridge Road and Edisto Drive.

Motorists should treat any intersection without a working traffic signal as a four-way stop.

Authorities are also working to restore power to the thousands of residents who are experiencing outages. At 12:45 p.m., 8,584 SCE&G  customers, 1,854 Berkeley Electric customers, and roughly 3,000 Edisto Electric customers were without power.
