Suspect in custody in attempted burglary, attempted rape

Tarrant police have arrested a suspect in an attempted burglary and rape.

After nine o'clock on Wednesday night, Tarrant police responded to a burglary alarm at Scott's Jewelry and Pawn. According to Tarrant's police chief, the suspect got scared when the alarm went off and ran away.

Police say he went next door and invaded a home. He held a woman at gunpoint and attempted to rape her, but changed his mind. The woman was not hurt. A short time later, the suspect went back to the store and broke in through a side window.

The suspect was found under some insulation inside the store. Police say he had five guns on him at the time.

The suspect's name and charges he faces have not yet been released.

Jefferson County deputies assisted with the case. They were already set up nearby on another case.
