Southwest Shreveport road renamed for World War II veteran

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A South Shreveport road has been renamed after an ArkLaTex World War II veteran, just months after his passing.

On Monday, Shreveport and Caddo Parish leaders renamed Dinkins Dr., which links W 70th St. to General Motors Blvd. It's now officially called John Petterway Jr. Boulevard.

Petterway passed away last September at the age of 102. At the time, he was said to be one of the oldest living World War II veterans in Caddo Parish and one of the oldest in the country.

Since the street sits on portions of Caddo Parish and Shreveport, both the parish commission and the city council had to pass ordinances.
