Wofford's bullpen held Charleston Southern scoreless over the final four innings to rally from an early deficit in a 10-4 win over the Buccaneers on Tuesday night at CSU Ballpark.
CSU falls to 6-2 on the season, while Wofford improves to 5-3. The Bucs return to action in less than 24 hours when they host Rhode Island on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at CSU Ballpark.
The Terriers took advantage of seven walks and four hit batsmen to hand CSU its first home loss of the season.
Starter Jessie Morris (WP, 2-1) worked five innings, surrendering runs in only the fourth inning, when the Bucs rallied from a 3-0 deficit to take a brief lead. Carson Waln's RBI on being hit by a pitch in the fifth broke a 4-4 tie and gave Wofford the lead for good. The Terriers stole seven bases in the win.
Wofford's Demetrius Jennings was 2-for-3 scored four runs to lead Wofford. He also had two stolen bases.
Wofford took a 3-0 lead in the second as leadoff man Josh Hymanlaced a two-run double off of Bucs' starter Denis Buckley. A throwing error on a sacrifice bunt attempt by Buckley led to an unearned run.
Senior Alex Tomasovich's double got the scoring started with a double off the wall in left center to score Sam Remick. He scored on a Bobby Ison single to cut the lead to 3-1. Chase Shelton followed with an infield single and Nick Berry cleared the bases with a double down the left field line to plate the Bucs final two runs.
CSU outhit the Terriers, 11-10. The top three in the Bucs lineup; Tomasovich, Ison, and Shelton were all 2-for-5 with a run scored.
