2008 GOP nominee Breazeale decides against running for NC7 Congressional seat

FLORENCE, SC (WECT) – Will Breazeale, the 2008 Republican nominee for North Carolina's 7th Congressional District seat, has decided not to run for the same office in 2014.

In a news release sent out late Thursday, Breazeale cited family concerns for the decision. "With my family, logistical, and professional considerations, I just could not support another run for Congress in NC for myself," said Breazeale, who is currently living in Florence, South Carolina.

Breazeale alerted media earlier this month that he was considering another run for the elected office in his home state. He won the nomination to run against incumbent Rep. Mike McIntyre in 2008, losing by a 69-31 margin. Two years later, Breazeale came up short in the GOP primary to eventual nominee Ilario Pantano.

The deadline for candidates to file for office in 2014 is Noon Friday, February 28th.
