Police arrest man accused of armed robbery, assault outside apartment

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police have arrested a man accused of an armed robbery and assault outside an apartment complex in North Charleston.

The North Charleston Police Department arrested 23-year-old Dominique Brown on Monday and charged him with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

On Monday night, police received information that one of the suspects involved in an armed robbery last month was at a home on Melanie Court in North Charleston.

Authorities say they found Brown in the living room of the home, and detained him.

Brown's arrest stems from an incident on the night of Feb. 15 when police responded to a robbery outside an apartment complex on Alston Avenue. The victims told officers that they were standing outside of their apartment when two men approached them.

Police say one of the suspects, armed with a gun, came up to one of the victims and struck him in the face. The suspect then took money and a black iPad from the victim.

Investigators say at the same time, the other suspect approached the other victim, took out a shotgun and said,"Give me all your money or whatever you got."

The victim said when he told the suspect he did not have anything, the suspect struck the victim on the side of the head with the shotgun.

A police report states the victim then gave the suspect an envelope containing money. Police say the suspects then got into a Mercury Grand Marquis and took off.

The victims told police that the suspects were friends of an acquaintance.
