NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 52-year-old woman is accused of taking more than $9,000 from a woman she was taking care of.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office arrested Dorothy Denise Shivers on Monday.
Shivers' arrest stems from an incident on March 23, 2011 when investigators spoke to an official for Care for Life.
The officials told deputies that a caregiver, identified as Shivers, had stolen money from one of their clients.
Company officials say the incident began when the victim discovered an unauthorized debit card purchase on her account.
Authorities say it was discovered that the victim's account had 21 unauthorized debit card purchases/withdrawals in the amount of $8,961.37, and a forged check in the amount of $500 written to the suspect.
