Irwin County has hired Coffee assistant Buddy Nobles as the Indians' new head football coach.
Nobles has spent the last several years as the offensive coordinator at Coffee and Fitzgerald under head coach Robby Pruitt.
He also served as the head coach in Union Co. (FL) before coming to Georgia.
Nobles will continue to run the Wing-T offense with the Indians. Irwin ran the same system under former head coach Jon Lindsey, who took over at Cook.
Irwin County Schools superintendent Bobby Conner says they are excited about Nobles taking over the football team.
Conner says Nobles' "kid-centered approach" was something they liked. He will also serve as the school's athletic director.
Nobles is the father of current Valdosta State QB Kaleb Nobles.
