Cops: 1 arrested, 1 sought in W. Ashley armed robbery

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police say one man has been arrested and another suspect is sought in connection with an armed robbery at a West Ashley apartment complex.

Benjamin Smalls, 23, has been charged with armed robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

According to police, Smalls and another suspect approached a man in front of building 27 in Plantation Oaks Apartments on January 29 around 6:45 p.m., and demanded the victim's wallet and car keys.

Officials say one of the suspect pulled out a gun during the robbery.

Police say the suspects then left the scene in the victim's vehicle.
