Stingrays Fall to Wings to Close Season Series


The SouthCarolina Stingrays (35-18-2-3) fell to the Kalamazoo Wings (33-18-2-3) 6-0 atWings Stadium Friday evening. The Stingrays finished the two-game season seriesagainst the Wings with a 1-1-0-0 record.

The Wings' offenseerupted for four goals in the first 12:28 of action sending Stingraysgoaltender Allen York (L, three saves on seven shots) to the bench infavor of netminder Max Strang (13 saves on 15 shots). Forward MattFirman started the scoring at 5:03 slipping a wrist shot under the blockerof York fromthe top of the crease. Moments later, rookie Matt Caria buried his 20goal of the season at 6:55. Forward Justin Taylor made it 3-0 on thepower-play tipping in a pass from defenseman Jeremie Blain inside the farpost. Former Stingrays forward Ryan Del Monte struck on the manadvantage at 12:28. 

Firmanburied his second tally of the game at 18:34 of the second period to give theWings a five-goal lead. Defenseman Dustin Cloutier completed the scoringat 4:12 of the final frame. The contest featured 116 total penalty minutes with92 arriving in the third period.
