CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston travelers may soon be able to enjoy nonstop flights to Dallas, Texas aboard Southwest Airlines.
The airline company announced Monday plans to acquire two gates at Dallas Love Field airport, which would add 12 new nonstop destinations to that airport. One of those nonstop destinations would be to and from Charleston.
Southwest Airlines currently offers four nonstop flights from out of Charleston: Nashville, Tennessee; Chicago, Illinois; Baltimore/Washington; and Houston, Texas.
The addition of Dallas Love Field is contingent on Southwest being able to obtain the rights to two Love Field gates that America Airlines is being forced to relinquish.
It is unknown at this time when the new destination could be added to the schedule.
